Lexington Programs to assist Low and Moderate Income Residents

 

Lexington Initial Rental Assistance Program

(EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2023)

The Lexington Initial Rental Assistance (IRA) offers low income households (60% AMI or less) assistance in paying security deposits, first month’s rent and last month's rent in their new apartments.  For program application, click here.

The program operates on a first come, first served basis as long as funding is available and is designed to meet all Federal HOME requirements.   For more information see program guidelines, click here.

Unit Approval: All units must be approved by the Town of Lexington before signing a lease, and rents must not exceed the following (including utilities):

Veterans’ Services

The priority of the Veterans' Services District is to aid and assist all veterans, their widows or spouses, and/or their dependent children, in the Towns of Lexington & Bedford through the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services, with short or long term medical assistance, financial aid, assistance with state applications for veterans' benefits, and administration of veteran’s benefits provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Human Services

The Lexington Department of Human Services provides central access to information and referral, clinical and financial assessments, connection to resources and consultation services to all Lexington residents. Programs are tailored to meet the needs of youth, families, adults and seniors.  

Energy Assistance

The Lexington Emergency Assistance Fund (LEAF) provides limited financial assistance to Lexington residents experiencing unforeseen and unexpected financial crises. These one-time funds are provided as a last resort for critical needs when other funding sources are unavailable or have been exhausted.

Housing Assistance

The Lexington Housing Authority provides rental units which serve those with extremely low, very low and low income. The maximum income must be less than or equal to 80% of the area.
